i've been catching bits and peices of "the joe scmoe show" all day. apparantly, it's some sort of marathon. but it reminded me of this song. which to me is one of those joints that was crazy upon first listen, but somehow faded into oblivion. this most def deserves another listen. thought blacks out. dilla at his best.
great stuff.

what a shit day.
everything is shitty. the yankees traded for Kerry Wood, AND Lance Berkman. my kid kept me up half the night, for no real reason. i think he was just mad at me.i keep getting into stupid spats with my wife, because we are just both irritated. i want to hit the bar with my homies, and no one is answering my calls. everyone in my house has a shitty disposition. i'm supposed to be working on a blog post with someone, and i just can't get inspired. i think im just gonna go to the bar el dolo and throw a few back.. one positive thing though, i went to RE-download "amnesiac" by Radiohead, just to add to the bummed out vibe of the day, and discovered a 2 disc deluxe edition? WTF. someone failed me by not telling me about this. if you want it, google is your friend. i am probably not. i will post a radiohead song, just for kicks. if you are like a colleague of mine, who will remain unnamed and "have no idea what a radiohead is", you might recognize this from blu's "her favorite colour"

gangsta gibbs
so i'm not the biggest mixtape advocate. there are so many, and honestly, i don't have time to listen to some of the music that i already know i like, let alone check for some newjack who i never heard of. the streets are over-saturated with bullshit mixtapes. i bet you have a cousin who has a mixtape. and it's hosted by DJ so and so, and presented by nokia or some shit. bottom line, there are too many that aren't worth my time, and because of that, i miss some good shit from time to time. there are however, exceptions, and gangsta gibbs has too many co-signs for me to not give him a listen. i've been hearing about "str8 killa" for awhile, and i can't say that i've cared, but alot of people seem to. so i'm posting it. i spotted excerpts from an interview he did at Bol's,and it made me all the more interested in hearing what this dude is about, despit the fact that ha may have fired shots at the blog scene -
Motherfuckers hide behind they computers and say little bullshit all day, but 99% of these niggas ain’t 100, man, so I don’t really give no fuck.
actually, he was referring to just blaze and some squabble about him not paying justin for a beat. but it sounds better when i say that freddie gibbs has beef with me and cholera.
Freddie Gibbs - Str8 Killa No Filla"
side note - i like how he said "i don't give NO fuck" as opposed to "i don't give a fuck". i'm going to make this edit to my slang. *reprograms brain*

drat.
the homie HL just posted a DOOM song i have never heard. well, it's actually NonFixion feat. DOOM, but hey, there aren't many songs that have the villain involved that i haven't heard a million times. not sure if it's new or if somehow, i just missed it. i can't,however, just go and take my homie's shine like that, so if you wanna listen, you gotta go to lattisawtapes.com, but trust me, it's a trip worth taking. he runs a tight ship over there. and while we are on the subject, be on the lookout for a pretty amazing collab between LightWeightHeavy and LattisawTapes. we've been working on it for awhile, and it's really starting to come together.(pause)i won't give any insight as to what it is, but trust when i say, it's gonna be epic.
oh. and side note -the jay-z verse on that usher song is incredible.

what's the opposite of shyne?
dim? fade? because this dude doesn't um...shine. or shyne. or whatever.(and no homo that pic)
i read alot of internet blurbs about the awfulness of this before i actually got a chance to listen to it. they were pretty brutal on po, but i don't think they accurately described the pile of shit that is this song. so i wanted to share some thoughts.. *spoiler alert* - i'm about to hate like silky johnson.
first of all,is he TRYING to sound retarded? no really.. listen again. i'll wait.
ok. so tell me eli porter wouldn't revoke this dudes mensa membership. jesus.
there is so much wrong here. this guy gets "renegaded" by biggie. i mean "duh" right? of course he did. but .. what if i told you that the biggie "feature" was really just a loop of him saying "i'll be smoking trees in belize when they find me"..like 10 times. and nothing else. there is literally not another biggie lyric on the song. would you still believe that was somehow better than shyne po's bars? no? have you listened yet?
i don't even want to get into the heresy commited to one of my favorite marley joints(see what i did there?)i'll just say that i will always think "bro bro, not the c.o, the ceo, row row" or some shit when i hear "the sun is shining"
i should add, that i never liked shyne. always seemed like puff trying to recreate big and failing to me. plus..i mean look at this pic.. this dude is wearing a TIM COUCH jersey! destined to fail. but shit, even i was rooting for him when he got out from doing 8 years for his main man puff. then l.a. reid gives this dude a milli advance on a record deal ? and THIS is the kind of shit he comes up with? let me get 10k and put me and DNTZ in a room for a weekend, and i promise, we can give you a whole album, no a whole CATALOG of shit that is exponentially better than this. this is perhaps the worst "song" ever. i can't even believe i'm goig to post the link. but.. you almost have to hear it, to understand how bad it really is. whatever your thinking, trust me.. it's 10x worse than that. fuck. here's the link. smh..
Shyne "featuring" Biggie & Bob Marley - "Belize" (real creative with the title too, btw)
as they say in the nah c-section - i think wendy's is hiring, shyne.
tiger style...TIGER STYLE..
so, when wale dropped "the mixtape about nothing" i thought it was awesome. and then, after a few spins, i dropped it and never looked back. when "attention deficit" dropped, i thought it was amazing. i even took my dog on an extra long walk so i could finish giving it the headphone treatment (ll). and then a funny thing happened. i never listened to that again either. and then the internets turned on wale, calling his album a disappointment. i don't think dude is awful, i just get bored with shit real quick. but this.. now this is worth your time. mr. folarin just let this go on his twitter, and i was very surprised at how ill it was. here i am expecting a rocky-esque "eye of the tiger" type joint, when instead, wale goes into the mind of tiger woods.Yeah. and he does it well, breaking down all the different aspect of the scandal that you could imagine. make sure you get this one. it's sure to get repeat spins. actually, you'll probably listen to it once, and then never bother with it again.

who is the GOAT producer?
this is something that is constantly debated on message boards, with my friends, and probably everywhere. to me, the beat is everything in a song. i have my favorites, we all do. but i'm curious what "the people" think. i'm sure there are a handfull that we all will mention, so i'll post 10 nominees, and let's see if we can agree on a winner. i'm only doing this, because i am bored. as fuck. and i think it's a great conversation starter. so, while a post of this magnitude probably deserves more time and planning, i'm just upping the shit for fun.
the criteria would be
- influence on the culture
- catalog strength
- creativity/ingenuity
...and the nominees are..
*cues up ridiculous VMA style montage*
- dilla
- rza
- pete rock
- dj premiere
- dr. dre
- kanye west
- just blaze
- alchemist
- madlib
- q-tip
(apologies to Large Professor, 9th wonder, the bomb squad, marley marl, timbaland, the neptunes, dan the automator, buckwild, and whoever else you want to add to the "honorable mention" list)
so those are my nominees. what do you think? i'll go ahead and say that dilla is my favorite producer. "donuts" is a fucking religion to me and mine. my son cut his teeth to that shit. dilla has beats that were just sitting on his hard drive that ended up surfacing after his untimely passing that would make other producers want to retire. and as far as influence? pshhh.. this dude is your favorite producer's favorite producer. not to mention that Jd pretty much helped father the neo-soul era in r&b. he came into an era dominated by bubble gum shit and helped erykah and d'angelo change the r&b game. he pretty much made it so that someone like boyz II men had to retire for awhile. so yes, dilla is my favorite, but we are talking the GOAT (see what i did there?)but i will say that he doesn't have quite the catolog that my pick for the champ does. if i had to pick the best ever, i have to go with the RZA. game changer? check. 36 chambers made everyone re-evaluate their style. not to mention, this is what made me fall in love with hip-hop. i thought i was the 10th member of the wu. i remember hanging out on the railroad tracks in my timberland hoodie, smoking blunts and chewing on a twig, all thanks to the abbot.enough about that. rza dropped the first "sped up soul sample" joint i can recall (for heaven's sake.. track 3, disk 1 on wu-tang forever.. *pushes glasses up on nose, nerd style*)and catalog? cut it out. one could argue that over the course of a few years, he left his mark on double digit classics. think about it... 36, ironman, liquid swords, tical, OBFCL, bob digi, wu forever, return to the 36, supreme clientele, gravediggaz.. i could go on. i tihnk based on the criteria i am basing this whole shit off of, you can't front on the rza. changed the game. did it in a way that had never been done (or at least furthered the art form) and that resulted in a fucking empire and a catalog that was "nuthin to fuck with"..
so, what are your thoughts? who's your pick? do you hate my list? (if so, start your own blog, make your own list, and stfu) make your case. make me a cd and change my mind if you disagree. and knowrisk, you can't vote for yourself.
note- if this doesn't generate a good conversation, i'll be pretty bummed, and will prob just shelve the post altogether. peace.
My Top 5 Releases of 2010 (SO FAR)
So we are half way done with 2010, and there have been some pretty good hip hop releases thus far. I fully expect this list to change dramatically by the end of the year, since there are a bunch of releases on the horizon. Albums like Good Ass Job and the two others from GOOD Music day, Lasers, The RED Album, Thug Motivation 103, King Uncaged, Detox, (and a few nice surprises I'm sure) are poised to be 2010's defining albums. Here are the few that have already released and have enjoyed their fair share of play time with me.
5. Meth Ghost Rae - Wu Massacre
So this album was pretty hyped up. It didn't quite live up to all the hype, but was still a good listen. It was great to hear the three most successful wu members on the same project. The album had that wu feel, even without Rza, and was a better Wu-tang release than "8 Diagrams". It even featured a song about our hometown "Youngstown Heist" which was a nice crime track. The big downfalls was the very short length of the album (about 30 Minutes, 12 tracks, but 2 were skits) and the fact that Def Jam pushed the album out too fast, so it does come off a little unfinished. But all in all I enjoyed it.
4. Freeway and Jake One - The Stimulus Package
This album caught me a little by surprise. It wasn't on my radar when it was set to release, and even when it did I put off listening to it. I kept hearing a lot of buzz about it and figured I'd give it a shot. I really liked this album, it had several very solid tracks and few weak ones, and even the weak ones aren't THAT weak. My personal favorite is "One Thing ft. Raekwon". If you haven't yet, it's worth at least a listen.
3. Curren$y - Pilot Talk
Again, another release that wasn't on my radar. I've heard dude, but not enough to form an opinion. I'd have to thank @abortatron for really pushing me to listen to this and quit putting it off. It's a very solid album, in fact I'm listening to it as we speak. I love it. Curren$y is headed for big things if he continues to improve on this.
2. Rick Ross - Teflon Don
Alright, so this album has only been out for a week, and I've had it for two, but it has already made me a believer. I fell into the camp of people that really didn't want to jump on the Ross wagon for various reasons. I hadn't heard much before this, by my own choice. I finally gave in and haven't looked back. From Free Mason to B.M.F to I'm not a Star to M.C. Hammer there are too many solid tracks to ignore. I've seen this album already turn a ton of haters into fans. If you haven't heard this yet, then put your issues with Rick Ross aside, whatever they made be and just listen to the music. It doesn't disappoint.
1. Big Boi - Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty
Can he carry an album on his own? Without 3000? The answer is surprisingly YES. 3 Stack's weed carrier released his first solo album and shut a lot of naysayers up. It's not that his skills were so much in question as much as him standing on his own, having always played second fiddle to Andre a lot of people figured he needed 3000 a lot more than 3000 needed him. This project shows how criminally underrated Big Boi is. Not only can he stand on his own, he can sound pretty good doing it. If you haven't heard this yet you are missing out for real. While I don't expect this to stay #1 at the end of the year, it certainly doesn't change the fact this will be one of 2010's best albums of any genre.

so...
normally, i'm not big into name brands. i do require a new era fitted, and some nice kicks, but most of my jeans are from old navy's clearance section, and i stay wearing a t-shirt/polo/hoodie that reps my employer. shouts to L$ for keeping me fitted with a million different colored NeoCom shirts. but anyone that designs something that takes my love for baseball, and tweaks it a little bit to make it stand out, i'm in. spotted this at hypebeast. (no homo)..
and here's some easy listening for your sunday..
enjoy the last bit of your weekend,people.. fucking work week will be back next time you wake up..

this is more like it
so earlier, i posted lupe's take on "BMF", and mentioned how i thought it didn't really keep with the tradition of lupe murdering other people's beats. a discussion ensued in the comments and i mentioned that i would love to hear lupe go in over kanye's "diamonds from sierra leone" among some other bangers. leave it to the nahright comment section to point out when your wrong. i have no idea how i missed this, but this shit goes. lupe is a bad ma'fucka.
6 rings "foamposite"
i'm diggin these. would like em more if they were real foams and not just a foamposite-esque colorway. thoughts?
spotted at nice kicks
i think i'm malcom x ?
Lupe just dropped this on his twitter.
Lupe Fiasco - "BMF freestyle"
UPDATE - that link is deadski already. i'll post a good one later if you want, but actually, this song sucks. instead, i'ma post a song you should actually want to listen to, instead of deleting the post altogether.

UPDATE #2 - ok ok , here's a fresh link if you INSIST.. but i'm warning you. this is a very "eh.." track. but if you must...

the original i hate white people video
they had taken this off of youtube, probably because they got roasted so bad. but somehow, this made it's way onto my facebook feed. so, i had to post it again.
i really, really hate white people.

in regards to jay electronica...
you know, this guy catches mad shit over his quote unquote work ethic, but yesterday, i was listening to "eternal sunshine" and the "exhibits" and it caused me to realize...this dude is the truth. he is deserving of the hype. i remember when exhibit c was at it's peak, and people on nahright were saying this dude was Nas, that this dude was gonna make the next classic(maybe that was ME that said that heh)the craziest comment tho, was when someone said "jay elect's next record will uplift the people of haiti in their time of need" .. wow. so maybe he was a bit overhyped, maybe he doesn't have an album yet..or a mixtape. or maybe he does have one that just needs the finishing touches. sure, maybe he's lazy. maybe he is just making sure he gets it right to andre young levels of perfectionism (is that a word? if not, make sure you credit me, going forward)maybe he doesn't have to drop an album, or a mixtape. this dude has put together some of the craziest shit i have ever heard. eternal sunshine is epic, beautiful, and amazing. if anyone ever challenged that hip-hop is not art, i would play them that. if anyone ever said "hip hop is dead", i would bust out the exhibits. i just felt compelled to sit down and write this, only because in this ultra fickle internet hype machine, we are quick to co-sign, and quick to dismiss. but jay e has dropped these heat rocks that have achieved heights that some rappers will never even begin to dream about. and for that, we should applaud that man. he doesn't EVER have to drop actII, i just hope he does. peace.

i hate white people pt 3
This dude that went to high school with me has been posting shit to facebook for awhile now, he always thinks he's saying something random and hilarious but his foray into hip hop has pushed me over the edge.
"Don't hang up, I still got more. Your mama gives head like a heroin whore. I wasn't thinkin of you as bud, when she spreaded my buttcheeks and went for the milk dud. We broke out with your grandpa's gin and got drunk, I fucked with a bowling pin. She's freaky, her nipples look like peanuts. Your mama's one of my favorite sluts." - some bars posted on FB today.

so, i've been real pissed off lately.
i know this is normally a hip-hop blog, but sometimes, you just gotta thrash.
also, i always am posting youtube videos, because it's easy, and i don't know any other way to post music. sometimes, i don't want you too see the stupid picture on the video ,and i just want you to hear the song. that's why i shrink the player, and it looks stupid. if anyone wants to hip me to divshare or some shit, feel free. i'm all about improving the site.

since we're on the subject...
slum village featuring ODB - "dirty"
@JayElectonica posted this on his twitter today, and thank god he did. (now if he would only drop that damn 'actII') i forgot all about this joint. i was just talking about how dirty is criminally underrated. well guess what.. so is Slum Village. get familiar with that shit, son.
it's time for a change.
i had an idea to list some words/phrases that need to be removed from the hip-hop vernacular.some of this shit has just gone too far. i'm sick of it. here are a few examples....i know there are more, but i can't think of them right now. if i missed some, please add them in the comments.
hatin/hater - i'm so sick of people telling me i'm a hater, just because i don't like something. and if i'm "hatin" on you, wouldn't that mean that you have to be doing better than me in some facet of life? maybe you just suck, and that's really all there is to it.
swag/swagger- played out. old. tired. i can't wait for this word to go the way of "groovy" or "far out". there's "pretty boy swag", "fat boy swag", "business casual swag".. and let's not forget, you can "turn your swag on" or go "swag surfing". i'm fucking swagged out. and i don't mean i'm dressed fly, i mean i can't take the use of this word anymore.
bling - if martha stewart is using it, it's dead. it's not cool anymore. period.
goin ham- while this is mainly a regional thing, i am hoping this dies off before it catches on nation-wide. i saw someone say they were "about to 'go ham' on facebook. really? cut it out.
i know there are more, but i am getting angry just thinking about the stupidity that is overtaking the hip-hop culture. let's put a stop to this bullshit slang TOGETHER.

amy amy amy
so i love amy winehouse. not just her music, that goes without saying.i love HER. her antics, her quotes, her arrest record.. i would not want to date her. she's pretty hit, and she would constantly be calling you crying, blacked out and shit, always getting arrested, etc etc.. but i would be her friend for sure.
anyway, rumor has it that ms. amy is in the lab working on album #3, and i hope she can pull it together long enough to bless us with another classic. i wanted to post an amy song, just because, and i chose this one, because it never really caught my ear when i first got into "back to black" but now it's up there as a favorite with the others. i've talked alot about classics, and that album is most definitely a certified 5 star classic.
also, i can't listen to amy without thinking of ashley. we miss you, fam. love you.

see what you see...
i've been hearing alot of bullshit posthumous ODB on the blogosphere this week. i've been hearing how his widow is offering his final works at crackhead like discounts. i just wanted to remind anyone who cares, old dirty is the fucking shit. he wasn't just some hypeman, or some comic relief type of cat. he was mad talented, crazy, excentric, and in my opinion, brilliant. the GOAT end of track shit talker.. i remember when odb passed, i wasn't really shocked. i called my man NTZ and told him the news, and i remember him being lost for words. i just wanted to remind the world that odb is not just a joke. he was a founding member of the greatest hip-hop collective we have ever seen. rest in peace, dirt mcgirt.

the king returns
has a mixtape and documentary coming out"july somethin"
and for the uninitiated,i'll post "the coronation"
#shotsfired @marv-o ?
a step in the right direction?
so the other day, i was bitching about how i can't buy "that guy's" kicks anymore, and how i'm getting on the OKC thunder's bandwagon(there's still room right?) at the same time, i was bummed because judas has the dopest kicks in the game. are these a step up for KD? what do you think? i'd like to see a murdered out, all black everything colorway, but these are looking pretty fly. gotta wonder if these are more for the court than the streets, but still... it's a start, right?

new classics?
awhile back, i had this brilliant idea to compose this huge post dicussing who was gonna drop the next classic hip-hop LP.who was gonna revive that real, raw shit, and bring the game back to a respectable level. i had a bunch of possibles, based on past catalog strength, current circumstances, hunger level, and probably some other shit that escapes me right now. i'll throw a couple names around that i had considered candidates at the time that i was cooking up the idea.i should probably explain that i only consider maybe 50 hip-hop albums classics, ever. kanye doesn't have a classic yet, in my opinion. *ducks* he has 3 very good, almost classic albums, but in my humble opinion, 0 classics. just to give you an idea of where i'm setting the bar here.
- kanye - first, you can't front on kanye's past catalog. plus there was swift-gate, which if nothing else, gives yeezy an extra chip on his shoulder. throw in the fact that he has promised a return to that classic sound (i.e- not auto tune, emo hip-pop)and you have what very well may be a classic on our hands...
- madvillain - those that know me know that i am an unapologetic DOOM stan, and a big fan of madlib's work, so it should come as no suprise that madvillain is my favorite hip-hop album evar. oh wait..that is a suprise? well, i didn't say it was the BEST, just that it's my favorite. (but really, i do think it's the best)so i'm not even gonna go into why i think the next MV album could be the next classic. i don't wanna go into stan mode like that for y'all.
- jay electronica - at the time i was originaly kicking this idea around, jay elec-Hanukkah had the biggest buzz in hip-hop fresh off the scorching "exhibit-c". fans were anxiously awaiting his "act II" mixtape with just blaze, and a possible album release, and it seemed like a foregone conclusion that jay e's debut would be the next "illmatic".. funny how quick the tables can turn.6 months later, we have no mixtape, no album, and only a handful of songs to even discuss. not to mention that the blog scene that was pretty much responsible for his monumental buzz, has now turned against him for his shitty work ethic and ass backwards strategy for releasing music. some even doubt the existence of "act II" altogether. liberate that shit jay. your killing yourself.
- lil wayne/T.I - i only threw these 2 in the mix because tip was about to get out, and weezy was about to go in, and i thought that a yyear in the bing alone would sharpen the skills of any mc to the point that they could drop a heat rock upon release. but.. if TI's latest shit is any indicator of what happens to your bars in the joint, it's not looking good..
-andre3000 - what can i say about 3 stacks that you don't already know? it's been too long, his features over the last few years have been on some incredible new level, even for him, and i think all of us have been wondering what he would be capable of on his own. but the last time we heard from andre? yeah.. he was convering a beatles song for a nike check. thanks.
-blu - #latepass on this dude. very creative type of cat and is no joke on the boards, as well as on the mic. i slept on blu for way too long, don't make the same mistake. already in his catalog are a couple of really great LP's (jonson and johnson, and "below the heavens" with exile)and i could definitely see him taking the next step and dropping a game changer. if only the mainstream would be there to take notice.
anyway.. there were others that i thought could drop a gem on the game, but i can't remember them now. and i guess all of them are still a strong contender, if they ever decide to get to it and drop some shit (looking at you, jay elec)but the reason i decided to revisit this idea, is because there has been some really good shit dropping lately, and i felt that i should give it some attention. and you should too. but if your reading this, you probably already are.
rick ross, curren$y,the roots, and big boi all dropped seriously good albums in the past couple weeks. (ross' actually doesn't come out for a week, but the album just leaked. not to mention that nahright has leaked pretty much every song on the album anyway)are they classics? time will tell. i don't think a classic can be crowned until we as a fanbase are able to see how an LP ages. but i'll be damned if 3 artists who i hadn't even considered capable of producing a decent album have come along and dropped crack to the feinding hip-hop nation. 2010 could go down as one of the best years for new hip-hop in a long time.with the strength of the releases so far, and the promise of what's to come in the months to follow, hip-hop is oficially no longer dead. we should be thankful that good music (no kanye) is finally making it's way back to the forefront.

2010 could go down as one of the best years for new hip-hop in a long time.with the strength of the releases so far, and the promise of what's to come in the months to follow, hip-hop is oficially no longer dead. we should be thankful that good music (no kanye) is finally making it's way back to the forefront.

another reason i'm salty about LBJ
so i'm over the lebron saga. i'm not, but ima pretend, for the sake of my family. they don't wanna see me be a little bitch about this shit. but for real, i didn't realize the impact he had on ohio, and especially cleveland. on the news, they are taking down the "witness" mural, and all the LBJ propaganda. I'm really pissed about the sneaker situation and my son is salty, because i had promised him Lebron's for school, and he doesn't understand why he has to get something different. it sucks, because lebron has some fucking ILL shoes, but we aren't supporting that motherfucker's empire anymore. me and my homie and my kids are making a decision to hop on the thunder bandwagon.. if i can't fuck with bron, Durantula is the next best thing, i'm just hoping he drops some dope sneaks in the years to come, because i'm not sold on the KDIII yet. this is my last mention of Lebron on LWH.. i'll resume your regularly scheduled hip hop programming with a classic from Dead Prez..

free mason !
been waitin on this one for a couple weeks. it finally leaked last night. i know i said we don't support the C.O. here at lwh, but gotdayum if he hasn't been dropping some bangers lately. anyway, jay puts alot of the illuminated talk to rest with this one, but i'm sure hov heads will be disecting his bars to find more symbolism to prove that jay is the anti-christ. enjoy this one though, for real.
Rick Ross ft Jay-z & John Legend -"Free Mason"
i'm on my third 6, but a devil I'm not
also - if you aren't familiar with rawse, make sure you stop by the homie HL's spot.. he put together a nice comp for those of us who are late to the ross party. seriously, i understand the whole "he's alright, but he's not real" thing. but if you don't fuck with ross, your missing out. i can't even front anymore. #bawse

blood is thicker than water...
this is the video presentation that the cavs made to try and convince LBJ to stay home.. don't go lebron.. we NEED you!
royal flush
If you have never heard this song.. you fucking lost.
probably the best andre3000 verse.. and that's saying alot. matter of fact, i'm posting that shit..
Styles will change. They say change is dang-erous
As a King standing on the terrace
While his partner pointing up at the riflemen
Coward shooter, never know when your life will end
Then live like there ain't no 'morrow
And if one come then this the motto
Now I put message in bottle
You go to the nearest beach and open your car door
And walk to the place where the sea meets the land
Yeah, it's easier to run the street than walk in the sand
Hey, I'm talking young man. As if chalk in my hand
I will take y'all little ass to school
It's cool when the kids call me Sunny, the hood calls me Stacks
The B's call me honey, Hollywood calls me back
Crack and I have a lot in common
We both come up in the 80's and we keep that bass pumping
That's a nega-tive comparison, embarrassing
Unfortunate that if you come up fortunate the streets consider you lame
Ha, I thought the name of the game was to have a better life. I guess it ain't. What a shame
I don't slang. Never slung but I'm one with the slum that has a name well fitting
Plenty cheese getting. No wonder why they call it the trap
So watch your tail and I'm not kidding
The rats and mice will give advice, they say, "you can paint and draw
Get out of here. Go show them that we're more than slanging raw."
That's when I broke into my Big Rube impression
And I tried to enlighten but that night I learned a lesson
That the morals that you think you got go out the window
When all the other kids are fresh and they got new Nintendo Wiis
And your child is down on her knees praying hard up to God for a whopper with cheese
Do you B) hit the street hard with a flair
Or do you A) go to school for heating and air?
Dare make an honest living or make a crooked killing
Or do a bit of both until you're holding on a million?
Brilliant. You got one foot in, one foot out
You put your left foot back in and then you shake it all about
You do the hokey pokey til you turn your life around
That's what it's all about. 3000 out
