see what you see...
i've been hearing alot of bullshit posthumous ODB on the blogosphere this week. i've been hearing how his widow is offering his final works at crackhead like discounts. i just wanted to remind anyone who cares, old dirty is the fucking shit. he wasn't just some hypeman, or some comic relief type of cat. he was mad talented, crazy, excentric, and in my opinion, brilliant. the GOAT end of track shit talker.. i remember when odb passed, i wasn't really shocked. i called my man NTZ and told him the news, and i remember him being lost for words. i just wanted to remind the world that odb is not just a joke. he was a founding member of the greatest hip-hop collective we have ever seen. rest in peace, dirt mcgirt.

Amen. ODB was a genius...
ReplyDeletei don't think people realize... he gets easily dismissed as the flavor falv of wu.. but that ain't the case. his first album is incredible. and his 2nd album is just fun to listen to. i spent so many nights as a teenager bumpin "JESUS, i'm rollin witchu!"
ReplyDeleteWord. Man I'll have to dig up this old "Wake Up Show" freestyle with Dirty, Rza, and Ras Kass. Ras spit an impeccable verse, but ODB came right behind him and straight renegaded him with some off the top shit. Like, his style was so unpredictable. Return to the 36 was one of the craziest albums ever. Dude spit the same verse on two different songs. Singing entire songs off-key before Biggie. Dirty was one of the greatest IMO.
ReplyDeleteBTW your blog is coming along pretty good man. If I forget you'll have to remind me to add you to my blog roll.
word..i appreciate the support homie. your shit is nice too.. love the tapes u compile.. and that wake up show freestyle would be dope to hear.. u could do a whole blog just off sway and tech's shit..they had everybody on there
